What is the JCR?
Welcome to the JCR, the Junior Common Room, of Trinity College! The JCR is a confusingly both a physical common room and the student-run organisation that serves the interests of all undergraduates here at Trinity College. We are affiliated with the Oxford Student Union (SU), but mostly run events, socials, sports, clubs, and societies within college. My name is Sahil, and I am the President for 2025-2026 – I am your first point of contact for anything JCR-related. I’m a second-year Chemist, and I love the piano, running, climbing, my degree (sometimes), and long walks in Uni Parks. If you have questions about anything JCR-related, please reach out to me at sahil.grover@trinity.ox.ac.uk.
In essence, ask not what you can do for your JCR; instead, ask what your JCR can do for you. The JCR’s committee of approximately 20 people, armed with budgets and dreams, organise a bevy of activities, events, weekly welfare teas, bops, various socials involving eating and yapping, and more, sometimes collaborating with other colleges. We have JCR General Meetings every two weeks, where motions raised to the JCR (by any of its members) are discussed and voted upon. The executive (President, Secretary, and Treasurer) are elected at the end of each Trinity term, and the committee is elected at the end of each Michaelmas term.
Get involved! Oxford student life is simply incomplete without taking advantage of everything your JCR has to offer you.
