A boat of Trinity members rowing down the river

Rowing

Trinity College Boat Club (TCBC), founded c. 1838, aims to be the best college boat club in Oxford. By joining together for this excellent team sport and continuing to teach new members to row, TCBC has won a pair of blades every year since 2011; W1 in summer 2021, M3 in spring 2022, W1 in summer 2023 and with the amazing help of new members and new ambition we look forward to seeing some amazing performances in the 2024 bumps season. We have also started to broaden our horizons by taking part in national competitions outside of Oxford, giving members the chance to explore UK rowing and spread our victories across the country.

The Trinity College Football team crouched together on the pitch

Football

Hello, I'm Nat - the current captain of the men's Trinity College Football Club. Under our previous captains Jamie and Morgan, the club has undergone a resurgance in recent years which has culminated in extended cuppers (the university KO tournament) runs and stronger league campaigns, with the 1s and the 2s placed in the 3rd and 1st division respectively. We are an easy-going group comprised of a diverse range of individuals and skillsets where everyone feels welcome. Alongside matches and kickabouts, we also host socials with other teams and compete against Churchill College Cambridge in our annual varsity match. In Trinity (the summer term), our attention switches to futsal, where the games are played indoors and are shorter, but, by and large, the squad tends to be very similar to the football team. Next year I am leaving TCFC in the very capable hands of Thomas and George, with myself and Matthieu taking on advisory chairman roles for the board, hoping to oversee the continued rise of our beloved team.

Cricket

What better way to spend your summer days/avoid revising than joining TCCC? A friendly and relaxed atmosphere coupled with a healthy sense of competition make it a club well worth being a part of. Matches take place throughout Trinity term and with both league and cuppers commitments there will be plenty of opportunity for some cricket. Please do get in touch if there are any questions or you want to sign up.

Trinity Climbers

The Trinity Climbers is a newly formed student society for the growing community of climbers at the college. We host weekly sessions at Brookes climbing gym, plan trips to famous climbing spots in the UK, and support every climber of every level of experience to maximise their access to this incredible sport.

The Trinity college Rugby team crouched together on the pitch

Rugby

Last year, we merged with Wadham RFC for inter-college matches. We train on Wednesday afternoons and play matches on Saturday mornings, with regular social events, such as crew dates and bar swaps. The highlight of the year for many is the annual Old Boys match, accompanied with a black tie dinner and a rather less formal curry, which takes place in 0th week of Hilary term. Players of any ability or experience are welcome. Unfortunately, we don't currently have a women's team, however for any women keen to play rugby, we'll put you in contact with OUWRFC.

The Trinity College Netball team together on the pitch

Netball

Trinity College Netball Club is a super relaxed and friendly way to get involved with sport at Trinity! We play in the mixed league, so everyone is welcome. No experience or skill is required (we aren’t the most competitive of teams), so even if you’re new to netball come and get stuck in with matches and socials! We play cuppers league matches in Michaelmas and Hilary with some potential inter-college tournament days in Trinity term. See you there!

The Trinity College Hockey team stood in front of a goal

Hockey

Hello, Trinity has a college hockey team! It’s a joint team with Queens & Wadham. We’ve got a match every Sunday at Iffley Astro court, during MT & HT. Usually 11 a-side but 7 when we lack numbers. We can possibly lend you a stick for a game, but best if you’ve got your own.

Trinity College Choir in Garden Quad

Choir

Trinity's Chapel Choir is one of the friendliest singing communities in Oxford and uniquely, one of the few non-auditioning collegiate choirs boasting a vibrant roster of college and out-of-college singers. We rehearse in our gorgeous 1694 chapel every Thursday at 5pm in preparation for our weekly Evensong on Sunday evenings tackling choral classics from Handel to Howells. The Chapel Choir also performs at important college events, ceremonies and feast days whilst completing an annual tour overseas - recent destinations include Lyon, Ljubljana, Valencia, Rome and many more!

Audience watching a music event

Music Society

Trinity College Music Society is open to all college members and is a source of help with funding, publicity or anything else music related. The music society hosts a termly 'President's Concert' - an excellent opportunity for musicians of all kind to come and perform in front of their peers and, of course, the President herself! We also host termly Open Mic and Karaoke nights, and joint concerts featuring Trinity's musical ensembles. In the past we've had music from Oxford's World Music Society, classical string players, solo singers, electric guitar players, and many more. We have also hosted professional masterclasses by musicians such as Maxim Vengerov (pictured).

Trinity Players

The Trinity Players are the college drama society! We put on termly performances, most recently The Rivals, and The Great Gatsby as our annual garden play. Audition materials are distributed for every production, and you can also get involved as crew. Whether you’re a seasoned actor or a newcomer excited to give it a try, we invite you to get involved!

Christian Union

We‘re an open space for anyone to come and talk about Christianity and the claims the bible makes- whatever you believe, we‘d love for you to come and join us at our events! What we do varies a bit term by term, but we often have prayer meetings, dinners all together and some form of event specifically designed to help those not involved in the CU already to feel welcomed!

Members of the Gryphon society

Gryphon Society

The Gryphon Club (Trinity’s very own speaking and debating society) is one of the college’s oldest societies, founded almost 150 years ago in 1881. The Masters of the Gryphon Club invite members to debate motions—both relevant and irreverent—usually after Hall on Wednesdays. In addition to this, the Gryphon Club hosts the annual Michael Beloff After-Dinner Speaking Competition, where members showcase their powers of rhetoric in order to win generous prizes. The society also aims to hold at least one talk by an eminent individual each term. These events bring together all members of college in a forum for lively debate on current affairs.

Film Soc
